Martyn Wagner

Martyn Wagner has been a Vice Principal at West Suffolk College for eight years. The College delivers learning from the main campus in Bury St Edmunds and in more than 100 other venues across Suffolk.
Martyn has particular responsibility for work with employers, and the College delivers training to more than 1,500 employers. West Suffolk College has more than 5,000 learners, delivering work based programmes such as apprenticeships, Train to Gain and Foundation degrees. The College's total enrolment exceeds 18,000 per year, including 800 higher education students at UCS Bury St Edmunds, based on the College campus.
Martyn's association with Suffolk started in 1987 when he first was employed at West Suffolk College to start the College's Hospitality school. He left Suffolk to spend six years as head of the Hotel School at Westminster College, whose alumni include Jamie Oliver, Anthony Worrell Thompson and other prominent industry figures.
Martyn returned to West Suffolk College in 2001, to take up a senior management role focused on developing good relationships with and meeting the training needs of the business community.
The College strives to support work force development across Suffolk and shares the values and goals of Choose Suffolk. The College's business development team are involved with a wide range of initiatives to promote economic development working in partnership with the regional development agency, Suffolk County Council and District Councils.
Prior to developing a career in education Martyn spent ten years working in the hospitality sector gaining experience with the Embassy hotel group, event and contract catering. Originally from Birmingham, he has an MSc in Education Management from Anglia Ruskin University.
