Project Champions Low Carbon Business

07/07/2010

Businesses in Suffolk are being encouraged to drive down their carbon footprint by taking advantage of a three-year partnership project between Choose Suffolk, Suffolk County Council, Green Light Trust, Suffolk Chamber of Commerce and Suffolk Climate Change Partnership, entitled Low Carbon Champions.

The aim of the project is help businesses to increase their resource efficiency and explore ways to save energy. Low Carbon Champions will support a total of 75 businesses across the county and includes a range of services, such as a resource efficiency action plan, alongside 30 hours of mentoring for a dedicated member nominated from each company’s team.

Grants of up to £5,000 are also available for the improvement of the company’s equipment or building and every business will be given the opportunity to gain a recognised award for their carbon management efforts.

Helene Gregson, Inward Investment Manager at Choose Suffolk, said, “The Low Carbon Champions scheme will give businesses valuable experience and practical advice on how they make effective savings while reducing their carbon footprint. We are really pleased to be a partner in this exciting project that delivers real benefits on the ground.”

The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Suffolk County Council.

The Green Light Trust will be delivering presentations to local businesses at the following events:

Tuesday 15th June – Suffolk Chamber of Commerce business breakfast
Thursday 24th June – University College Suffolk – ‘My Future is Green’
Thursday 9th September – Suffolk Chamber of Commerce Event.
